This medical program has student volunteers who will gladly answer questions about signing up for health insurance, finding a primary care doctor, securing transportation to medical appointments, and much more. Click here for more information.
We follow Worcester Public Schools for weather-related closings.
We are also closed on the following holidays - New Year's Day, Patriots' Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, and Christmas Day. Please see the free medical program calendar on the home page for an up-to-date schedule of services.
Medical services: You do not need an appointment! Walk-ins are accepted for physicals and sick visits, but we ask all walk-in patients to please arrive no later than 7:15pm.
Vaccines: If you are in need of vaccines, we recommend scheduling an appointment, as walk-ins are not guaranteed. Please visit Hart-Wood during clinic hours to provide your immunization records and schedule an appointment for vaccines.
Dermatology services: While walk-ins are also welcome for WooDerm, the dermatology practice, you can ensure you will be seen by calling (774)312-7402 to leave a message (your call will be returned by a scheduler) or emailing umasswooderm@gmail.com to secure your appointment.
Beginning on January 6, 2026, the Epworth Free Medical Program was officially renamed as the Hart-Wood Free Medical Program, named in honor of its two co-founders, Dr. Paul Hart and Reverend Barry Wood, whose vision and determination resulted in a commitment of more than three decades of free care provided to those in need. This rebranding reflects not only our roots, but also our future, and ensures that our identity is inclusive and sustainable.
We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to Epworth United Methodist Church for serving as our location all these years. While our location and name are changing, our mission, model of care, leadership, and volunteer community remain the same. This move, although difficult, provides an opportunity to better meet the needs of our patients, strengthen community partnerships, and allow for future growth, particularly as we prepare for the anticipated impacts of Medicaid cuts and increasing demand for free care services.
